Hats off to the Sugar Camp Community
On Saturday, April 24, residents of the Sugar Camp Community came out in full force to spruce up this pristine community.
Approximately 100 area residents, parents, children, and students from both Sugar Camp and Three Lakes School spanning the ages of 5-years-old to 80-years-young, came out in a joint effort to clean up the roadways that we all travel every day.
If you happened to be traveling in Sugar Camp on Saturday morning, it was quite the site to see as the bright green vests of volunteers could be seen every where from Highway 17, Camp Four Road, Bass Lake Road, Sugar Lane, Breezy Pine, Jenny Webber Lake Road, Shupe Lane, Buck Ridge, Thunder Lake Road, Channel Road, Rolling Acres Road, County Road A, County Road D, Pine Lake Road, Lily Bass Road, Rustic Lane, Columbus Lake Road and County Highway H.
After all was said and done, volunteers commented it was a "feel good" activity and something they would like to see continue. The Moondance Bar and Grill provided food and refreshments for the volunteers.
With well over 100 bags full of trash, it also was an eye-opening experience that brought up the question as to why people litter as they do. Some of the surprising items found included a bowling ball, infant car seat, and used medical supplies.
Come on people, it is time to clean up YOUR act.
